Working with etched and cut plexiglass and LED light, the two pieces glow and illuminate their information about the histories of Asian and Mexican American immigrations. Information and visuals are sourced from vintage newspapers, legal documents, and American iconography.

Friends of mine are well aware of the adoration I have for the Barbadian musician Rihanna, so when I was given the prompt of creating three separate yet related images to illustrate a mythos few were surprised by my subject matter. In this series I have Rihanna take the form of three Japanese deities. Susanoo, Amaterasu, and Tsukuyomi, the god the storms, the sun, and the moon respectively.
